The breakdown of the structure and parts of a bra.

1. CUPS
The fabric on the bra that supports and encloses the breasts. The cups can be made of different materials, constructed of one piece of fabric or multiple pieces.
2. STRAPS
Helps to balance the weight of the breasts in the bra and the straps can vary in width based on size. Also, provides a small amount of lift.
3. WING/BAND
Provides the main support for the breasts. They should be sturdy construction, offer firm control and fit snug on the body.
4. UNDERWIRE
Aids in support of the breast and structure of the bra. They can be made of metal or plastic, can be short or long and should never sit on the breasts.
5. GORE
Fabric center front of the bra between the underwires. The gore should fit flat against the chest in underwire bras, but may not always. This will not happen in wirefree or softcup bras.
6. SIDE BONING
Side Side boning is the plastic strip sewn in to the side of the bra to strengthen the wing an prevents it from collapsing. It brings your breasts toward the center and point them forward.
7. APEX
The area where the straps attaches to the bra and will relate to the cup size and style.
8. HOOK AND EYE
Point where bra is secured around the body. The width and amount of hooks increases based on the cup size of the bra or style of bra.
